Savory Terrain
FAQs
Which airport should I fly to?
The countryside villa where we stay is 45 minutes from Bologna, so we recommend that you fly to Bologna for pickup at the airport. You can also meet us at Bologna Central Station if you're traveling by train.

How many people will be on the trip?
We're all about small group travel, so there will be only 6-8 guests per trip. If you have a larger private party, please contact us to see if special accommodations can be made.

What foods do I get to eat?
Savory Terrain focuses on the foods that Reggio Emilia is best known for. These include balsamic vinegar, parmigiano reggiano, various types of prosciutto and other cured meats, and fresh pasta (tortellini, lasagna, tagliatelle, etc.). We will also eat local favorites like wild boar stew, ragù bolognese, truffle, gnocco fritto, pizza, and gelato. You will love it!

All group transportation, lodging, meals, tours, and classes are included.

What is not included?
Tips for tour guides and non-group events that you may want to add to the itinerary during your personal time. Wine will be available for evening meals, but is not included.

Who can come?
We welcome anyone 18 and older. Teenagers are also welcome if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Can I come on this trip solo?
The villa where we stay has limited rooms, so we require double occupancy in each room. We recommend that you bring a travel companion to share your room with. If you don't have someone to join you, let us know and we may be able to pair you with another traveler.

I have dietary restrictions, can I come on the tour?
This trip focuses on foods that contain meat, dairy and gluten. Regretfully, if these foods are not part of your diet, this trip will not be a good fit.

Is alcohol included?
Local wine options are included on four of the food tours. For all other meals, alcohol will be available for purchase.

When is payment due?
A $500 deposit is required to reserve your spot, with final payment due by June 31.

How do I pay for the trip?
Payment by check is preferred as there are no convenience fees associated with it. If you have to pay by credit card, please reach out to discuss details.
